Details Flowers Software 2024 Year in Review


As 2024 draws to a close, we’re reflecting on an incredible year filled with exciting developments, meaningful connections, and countless moments of inspiration. From launching innovative features to engaging with the floral community across the globe, this year has been a testament to the power of collaboration and creativity. In this blog and our 2024 recap video, we’ll explore all the new features we released, the events we attended, exciting happenings at the company, and more. Let’s take a look back at the highlights of 2024!

New Features

We create features with our members in mind, welcoming and considering every feature request to ensure our tools truly meet their needs. Many of the features introduced this year were inspired directly by member feedback. At Details Flowers Software, our mission is to simplify and enhance the work of floral professionals, and in 2024, we delivered several new features designed to do just that.

The Client Portal

The new Client Portal Settings allows you to customize your client portal experience to reflect your company's brand. From the Main Menu under 'Client Portal' > 'Portal Settings,' you can adjust defaults and settings for company information, branding, analytics, and navigation. You can also make event-specific adjustments.

  • Company Info: Customize the details that appear on the Proposal and Invoicing pages, with the option to toggle the visibility of certain fields.
  • Branding & Analytics: Change your logo, choose a favicon, adjust text and accent colors, and add your Google Analytics ID to track portal data.
  • Navigation: Add custom links to your portal, such as social media or your website. You can choose which pages to display in the menu and decide whether each link opens in a new tab.

You can update these settings per event, ensuring each client experience is tailored to your brand. This feature must be toggled on to use!

User Activity Log

The User Activity Log lets you track all changes and activity within your account, providing live updates on users' actions and event changes. To use this feature, each user must have their own Authorized User subscription. You can invite new users through 'Settings' > 'Authorized Users.'

To access the User Activity Log, go to 'Company' > 'Client Activity Log' in the Main Menu. You can filter the log by date, user, context (like 'Client,' 'Proposals,' 'Worksheet'), sub-context, and activity type. The log shows the date, time, user, activity performed, and links to the changes made, including the user's IP address for reference.

Email List

Stay organized and efficient with the 'Email Lists' feature in Details Flowers Software, your go-to tool for managing email communications. Confirm emails have been sent, track client views, and access detailed engagement insights—all in one place.

The 'Email Lists' area provides an overview of all emails sent through the 'Invoicing' section. You can view emails across all events in your 'Company' settings or focus on specific events by accessing the feature directly from individual event pages.

Key Highlights:

  • Stats Overview: Monitor email activity, including sends, opens, clicks, and more. Click on any status to filter emails for quick review.
  • Search Functionality: Easily find emails by recipient, sender, date, or status using the search bar.
  • Email Details: Review logs of sent emails, including status updates (e.g., sent, delivered, opened), engagement metrics, recipient/sender info, and history.

With these features, managing email communication becomes seamless, ensuring your clients stay informed and connected.

Automated Reporting

The Automated Reporting feature in Details allows you to set up custom reports that are sent directly to your email daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly. To set up a report, choose your search criteria using filters from the 'Event List' and select your desired report frequency (e.g., daily, weekly, last day of the month). After selecting the filters, go to 'Menu' > 'Automatic Reports' to create a new report, name it, choose the data to include, and select the file type (CSV or XLSX) and the email recipient.

Enhanced Exporting Options

We’ve introduced even more efficient and versatile ways to help our members export information from Details! Now, you can gather detailed data about item usage and average costs within your account, whether you’re looking to analyze past trends or plan for the future. This streamlined process is not only faster but also more powerful.

In the Event List, you can generate custom reports by exploring nearly limitless combinations of data points. To create a report, use the search options to define your parameters. Simply select the 'Add Search Filter' drop-down in the top-left corner of the search panel, choose the desired filters, and click 'Add' to apply them.

This enhanced functionality empowers you to unlock valuable insights and easily make data-driven decisions!

Form Builder: Static Pages

The Form Builder's Static Pages function as landing pages with no client questions, which is perfect for creating an 'About Us' page or other informational content. To create one, navigate to 'Form List' in the Main Menu, click 'Create New Form,' and toggle the 'Static Page' option to 'Yes.' After activating the form and setting details like Open & Close dates or a custom URL slug, you can build your page from scratch, adding photos and text and customizing fonts and colors in the 'Menu' option. Preview your static page across devices and share it via a link or integrate it into your Client Portal navigation for easy access.

Increased Mobile Functionalities

Your clients now have seamless mobile access to manage their interactions with you through Details! They can easily view proposals, review and pay invoices, and submit payments, all from the convenience of their mobile devices. This enhanced functionality ensures a smoother, more efficient experience for your clients, allowing them to handle important tasks on the go. With mobile accessibility, keeping the process professional, simple, and convenient has never been easier!

Tax Alert

You will now receive a helpful alert if taxes have not been applied to an event or if you are still using the current default tax rate of 6.5%. This notification ensures accuracy and compliance in your pricing and billing processes. By flagging these instances, we make it easier for you to catch any oversights, adjust tax rates as needed, and maintain consistency across your events. This feature helps you stay on top of your financial details, giving you confidence that everything is correctly accounted for.
 

Personalization Tokens

Personalization Tokens are placeholders that automatically insert specific data, such as client names, event dates, and company details, into proposals, contracts, emails, and forms. These tokens save time by eliminating the need to manually type information for each event. This year, we've implemented more areas to use tokens within Details Flowers Software, including email settings, proposal settings, contract terms, and the Form Builder, helping to ensure consistency and accuracy across your documents. 

To use tokens, copy and paste the appropriate placeholder (e.g., ) into the relevant field, and the corresponding data will be automatically inserted. Custom properties can also be used as tokens by typing . This functionality streamlines your workflow and ensures that personalized information is consistently included in your documents without manual input. 

Global Item Symbol

The Global Item Symbol strengthens collaboration between florists and suppliers by providing valuable insights into product performance. Partners use this data to manage production schedules, identify trends for new products, and retire underutilized items. This creates transparency, supports innovation, and ensures florists have access to high-quality, in-demand materials, ultimately benefiting the entire floral industry.

Proposal Send Feature Updated

The updated Proposal Send feature provides greater flexibility and efficiency in managing event communications. By allowing members to choose one or multiple contacts to receive proposal emails, this improvement ensures that essential information is shared with the right people at the right time.

This enhancement is valuable because:

  • Enhanced Collaboration: Florists often coordinate with clients, planners, and vendors. This feature ensures everyone involved in the event stays informed and on the same page.
  • Personalization: Members can customize who receives proposals for each event, tailoring communication to meet specific needs.
  • Streamlined Workflow: Eliminating the need to forward emails manually saves time and reduces the risk of errors during busy periods.
  • Professional Communication: Sending proposals directly to all relevant contacts demonstrates organization and attention to detail, leaving a positive impression on clients and collaborators.

Database Update

Our team upgraded our Database Management System to improve our software's overall performance, security, and reliability. This essential update ensured that we continued delivering the best possible experience, providing a smoother, more responsive platform.

Periodic maintenance allowed us to enhance security measures, optimize processing speeds, and introduce compatibility with new technology. These updates were routine across all reliable software platforms, enabling systems to adapt to evolving needs, maintain data integrity, and stay aligned with the latest standards.

Insights from Our Members

As Details has grown, we’ve been fortunate to witness the incredible growth of our customers along the way. From our inception in 2015, the number of total events in our system has skyrocketed from just 58 to an astounding 24,572 in 2024! This remarkable expansion mirrors the success and dedication of the florists who trust us to support their businesses.

End of Year Review (1)

Alongside this growth in event numbers, we’ve also seen a significant increase in the average grand event total. Back in 2015, the average event total was $2,200. Fast-forward to 2024, and that number has risen to $6,131.23.  This growth is more than just numbers; it’s a testament to how our software has helped florists streamline their workflows, manage their businesses more effectively, and ultimately increase their profitability.

Internship Program

This year, we were excited to welcome four Stetson students as interns at the Details Executive Offices. Throughout their time with us, they contributed to various departments and gained valuable experience in sales, marketing, and client service.

Petal It Forward

This year, in response to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Details Flowers Software took part in the Society of American Florists' Petal it Forward initiative to spread joy and kindness to those affected. On October 15th, the team received 170 bouquets from Jet Fresh, and everyone got involved in processing the flowers. On Petal It Forward Day, CEO Corrine Heck spoke at One Million Cups Daytona Beach, highlighting the positive impact of the initiative. Attendees were thrilled to receive and gift bouquets, deepening their appreciation for the floral industry. The remaining bouquets were distributed around Daytona and Ormond Beach, and kindness was shared with local businesses, first responders, and strangers. The experience was heartwarming, and the team looks forward to continuing their involvement in future Petal it Forward events.

Stetson Sales Class

This year, our CEO Corrine co-taught an advanced sales class at Stetson University, giving students hands-on experience in selling within the floral industry. The students learned how to use Details Flowers Software and were introduced to our sales process, equipping them to make real calls to florists and sell the software. It was an incredible experience watching the students grow throughout the semester and helping them explore the diverse career opportunities within the floral industry.

Flagler-Volusia County Board

Corrine had the privilege of attending a Seed Your Future board meeting at the University of Nebraska, where she was inspired by talented individuals who had significantly impacted the horticulture industry. The University of Nebraska offers a comprehensive horticulture program, and Corrine had the opportunity to tour its state-of-the-art greenhouses, which showcase innovative technology advancing plant research. She also met with students who were passionate about the future of horticulture, whether in floriculture, landscape design, or plant research.
