For this month's Details University Live, we had the pleasure of speaking with Ana and Anais Vivas, the mother-daughter duo of Aniska Creations. From their journey from Venezuela to Miami, they’ve built a flourishing business rooted in floral design. We dove into their story, their commitment to supporting Latino florists, and how they provide essential tools and resources through workshops and classes. Here is the official recap if you could not join us!
Aniska Creations, based in Doral, has been thriving for six years. The family behind the business relocated from Venezuela to the United States in 2016, where they each had to forge new career paths. Ana, who previously worked in event design back in Venezuela, found a shared passion for flowers with her partner, which inspired them to launch their floral business. Their dedication to design and floristry has shaped Aniska Creations into a beloved local establishment.
Ana and Anais emphasize how vital attending industry workshops was in mastering the fundamentals of floral design and understanding how the floral industry operates in the U.S. These workshops became the perfect networking opportunity, learning from fellow florists, and building confidence in their craft. Now, they pay it forward by teaching their own workshops and helping other florists grow their businesses. Their key advice to emerging florists is to attend as many workshops as possible, as they cover essential topics such as business strategies, marketing, and design. Workshops allow florists to learn about their market and themselves and refine their vision for their careers.
Ana and Anais's passion for their craft and community is evident in all they do. They’ve opened doors for Latino florists, offering a path to success while instilling pride in their heritage. Within the first year of business, they began offering workshops in Spanish, recognizing the importance of providing resources in one's native language. They believe this gives florists the confidence to invest in their careers, knowing they’ll learn and grow in an environment where they can fully engage. Starting from teaching workshops in their living room to now hosting on the second floor in their studio and renting beautiful venues--they have truly blossomed in their journey.
Aniska Creations has had numerous opportunities to showcase their talents locally and beyond, and one of the most meaningful experiences has been participating in Fleurs de Villes each year in Miami. Describing the event as a "dream come true," they see it as a labor of love. The Voyage edition was particularly special for them, as they created a mannequin inspired by their home country, Venezuela. The stunning display earned them first place and was an emotional project, with many team members from Venezuela contributing to its creation. Florists looking to expand into new markets should consider the holiday season, especially Christmas. According to Anais, Christmas is an incredibly busy time for Aniska Creations. Starting November 1st, they begin decorating trees and handling holiday events and decor through early January.
In addition to holiday projects, they also specialize in Latino weddings, which peak from November to January, making it a bustling wedding season for them. This helps balance out the slower summer months typical in Miami!
We’re so grateful to have had Ana and Anais join us this month! They have an exciting workshop coming up on March 18-19 at La Estancia Farms, where participants will learn how to create stunning large floral installations, elegant container arrangements, and luxurious table settings. This year’s workshop will feature outdoor installations in the venue’s gardens and indoor designs, including innovative hanging arrangements. The workshop will be conducted entirely in Spanish and is open to all skill levels. Click here to learn more and register!
