Valentine's Day has arrived, and what better way to commemorate the occasion than by recognizing our outstanding florists who are on the front lines during the holidays. We interviewed customers who operated a retail space and got the inside scoop of their operations during a busy floral holiday.
Lizzie Bee's Flower Shoppe, Richardson, Texas
Lizzie Bee's Flower Shoppe has recently expanded into the retail world--six months ago, to be exact! They teamed with local businesses to build a lovely shopping district for the Richardson, Texas, neighborhood. They delivered unique services through storefront collaborations and connected with clients more visually and retail-oriented with their new location in The Lockwood District. Check out our interview with Lizzie all about the journey of opening a retail floral shop!
Being so new, they have excitement when it comes to preparing for the floral holidays. To start preparing for the big holiday, Lizzie, owner of Lizzie Bee's Flower Shoppe, begins by looking at trends in the industry. "We look at what is trending along with our previous years' numbers to set our goal. We create the arrangements for photos and market them on social media and email. We offer preorders and a set number of arrangements we can do of each arrangement; from these numbers, we can determine how many of each flower, vase, how many employees we will need to work the week of Valentine's, etc."
Along with the signature Garden Style arrangements, their offerings expand to candles, baby items, jewelry, plant parent goodies, home decor, kitchen decor, vases, pots, candies, and gift cards. "We have a very natural, organic vibe in the shop. When you enter you can find an array of retail goodies, plants, along with our refrigerator that holds beautiful fresh-made arrangements, individual flower stems - so customers can pick and choose their own flowers for their arrangements or just buy some stems, we have our consultation rooms and the design area is in the back, where customers can watch our design team in action creating pretty arrangements."
There is truly something for everyone at Lizzie Bee's Flower Shoppe--with every purchase, you will be supporting small businesses from the Richardson Area! "We love to use other small businesses, especially women-owned businesses! We have a variety of suppliers we love to work with and are always looking for more that fit our brand and style."
We wish a very successful first Valentine's Day Holiday to the team at Lizzie Bee's Flower Shoppe! Make sure to follow along on their opening year journey on their Instagram!
About Lizzie Bee's Flower Shoppe
Lizzie Bee’s Flower Shoppe is a full-service Flower Shop providing retail arrangements and event design to local customers in the DFW metroplex, focusing on providing retail flower arrangements to customers in the North Dallas area (Richardson, Addison, Preston Hollow, etc.). Lizzie Bee’s was started by Elizabeth Fisher, who, after five years of experience in the floral design industry, decided to develop her storefront in a fresh, luxury garden style. Liz has spent the last ten years building a team of stellar designers, making connections with brides across the country, and engineering her floral tools, all while raising her two daughters and son and supporting her two step-sons! Liz will tell you that the first thing she attributes to her success is the support of her family and friends and that her passion for educating the next generation of florists extends to inviting her kiddos to explore what it looks like to be on a team and provide excellent service.
The transition to a larger retail space allows us to expand the retail end of our operation into a full-fledged customer shopping experience and grow our team by hiring an additional 4-5 employees, retail and design staff to assist customers while they shop and to assemble daily floral arrangements. While our current space is tailored to event design, rental storage, and wedding consultations, retail space is limited and cut-off from the rest of the design space, distancing customers from designers and limiting the customer experience. Our hope with the new store is to create a retail space where customers can linger, explore and discover new ways to incorporate flowers, plants, and unique gifts into their daily lives. With a larger retail space, we also host events and workshops and have become a place where customers from the community can connect and enjoy time among flowers and friendly faces. We want Lizzie Bee’s Flower Shoppe to become a haven and a hub for the community, to be more than just a flower shop, but an experience.
