The impact of the Volusia County Business Incubator was on full display at the organization's third annual Client Showcase as two successful companies were named as businesses of the year.
The two companies have created over 100 jobs in Volusia County and now have nearly $3 million in annual revenue.
Both companies started at the incubator, managed by the University of Florida, as just an idea.
The Client Company of the Year, Plan Life Care, joined the Incubator in 2017, looking to help families during their loved ones' final years. The company has more than 100 employees with annual revenue of $1.6 million.
The Graduate Company of the Year, Details Flowers Software, joined the incubator in 2015 to build its software program to assist florists and help event designers grow their businesses. Last month, more than $8 million in flower contracts were processed through its software. The company has more than $1.25 million in revenue and employs eight people full-time in Volusia County.
In both cases, the companies were selected because of their significant success in growing their business and creating economic impact.
"It is very rewarding to see our startups shine around the world, especially when I know they started here, in this incubator, which is just an idea," said Connie Garzon-Bernal, incubator site manager. "This is what the incubator is all about. Helping companies start, grow, and succeed."
