On December 16th, our offices came alive with holiday cheer as we welcomed the United Way Women United group for their year-end social, Petals with Purpose. This after-hours gathering blended festive fun with meaningful community service, bringing together women across Volusia County to learn new skills, make new connections, and spread joy to local seniors during the holiday season.
This year’s event featured a special Flower Arrangement Making Class led by Corrine, making it a standout opportunity for attendees to learn from an experienced industry professional. Women United also invited anyone interested in joining their 2026 membership to attend, giving guests a chance to meet current members, mingle, and learn about the group’s mission and impact.
With limited tickets available, the class filled quickly. Attendees enjoyed charcuterie, refreshments, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere as they prepared for an evening of creativity and community connection.
Corrine led the group through each stage of the design process, beginning with flower processing and cleaning, followed by practical tips on arranging, balancing color, and building structure. Throughout the office, the Details team was hands-on, assisting volunteers at every workstation—answering questions, offering guidance, and cheering on each beautiful creation. The room buzzed with laughter, encouragement, and bright holiday blooms.
To demonstrate how we plan community floral projects behind the scenes, we also shared the floral recipe developed within Details, which served as the foundation for the step-by-step printed guide. The recipe PDF made the process approachable for beginners and gave everyone the confidence to try new techniques.
Each attendee completed three arrangements:
One to take home
Two to donate to local seniors
The donated arrangements were delivered the following day to seniors at Council on Aging dining sites, bringing warmth and kindness to our community just in time for the holidays.
The heart of the evening beautifully reflected Women United’s mission:
“We fight for the health, education, and financial stability of women and children in Volusia County. Together we're transforming our community to be a better place for future generations.”
By crafting arrangements filled with care and intention, attendees helped brighten the season for seniors while strengthening bonds within the Women United network.
We’re grateful to the partners who helped make this event possible:
Accent Decor for donating the vases that elevated every design
Smithers-Oasis for supplying the tools used by all participants
Their contributions ensured a smooth, enjoyable experience from start to finish.
We were honored to host this inspiring group and look forward to future opportunities to create, learn, and spread joy together!
